We’re Looking for Talent in Pickens County
Pickens County Has Talent, SDPC’s first county-wide talent show, will be a family-oriented fun event that will showcase the best of the best within Pickens County. Most importantly, 100% of the proceeds will be distributed to the schools for instructional supplies. Auditions, preliminary shows, and the final event will be held at our high schools, but the contest is not only for high school students. It’s open to all SDPC students and to any Pickens County resident. There’s no age limit or entrance fee. We only ask that acts are “G-rated.”
Read the contest details and get involved. Tell everyone possible about the contest. Encourage all the talented people you know to audition. If you have any questions not answered on the PCHT Web page (www.pickens.k12.sc.us; click on Upcoming—Pickens County Has Talent), contact Roy Costner at 864-270-3675 (cell), 864-843-3139 (home), or Roy.Costner@chartercom.com (email). Help to make Pickens County Has Talent a real success!
Welcome to John T. Simpson where "Nothing Is Impossible"

Welcome Back!
The 2011-12 school year is off to a great start. We have the very best and most dedicated teachers who are devoted to their jobs and to helping students. We started this school year with ninety-five students and our numbers continue to grow each week. We have expanded our curriculum to include the eleventh and twelfth grade courses. This allows students to remain at John T. Simpson until they graduate if they so desire. Our students are working hard to be productive students, good citizens, and tomorrow’s leaders. This year, we have many wonderful things planned and look forward to what the future holds for our John T. Simpson students and staff.
This year, it is my honor and pleasure to serve as director of John T. Simpson. I believe in the mission and vision of our programs. My hope is that our JTS team is able to help as many students as possible reach their goal of graduating and becoming productive citizens. Please do not hesitate to call if you have questions, concerns, or needs. We are here to help students and families.

Congratulations to Lynn Foxx, JTS 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year, and to Sgt. Perry, JTS 2011-2012 Support Employee of the Year!

Ms. Foxx is a special education teacher at John T. Simpson. She has been a Pickens County employee for the last seven years of her twenty years as an educator. She has been able to call JTS home for the last two and a half years. Mrs. Foxx enjoys working at Simpson because of the school’s “family atmosphere”. Ms. Foxx also stated that working with students on a one-on-one basis is both “rewarding and refreshing”. When Ms. Foxx is not working, you will find her spending time with her daughter, Emily, or at a Clemson sporting event. Congratulations Ms. Foxx; we are proud of you!
Sergeant Perry is JTS’s own legend. Sgt. Perry serves the faculty, staff, and children of JTS as a drill instructor. Perry has called the School District his home for the past twelve years. Originally hired to work with the former Rebound Program, Perry moved to Simpson when the county decided to expand and enhance its alternative programs in the 2007-2008 school year. Sgt. Perry currently works with all academies at Simpson: PRIDE, STAR, MERIT, and TEAM. His tough love and unique motivation techniques quickly gain the students’ respect. In fact, when former students visit Simpson, it is often Perry that they come to see. Sergeant Perry, we, at JTS, salute you!
